Hello, I’m Angela Brooke-Smith
Cut Flower Grower, Florist, Garden Designer, Gardener
A mix of horticultural delights, hence my business name, Flower Fusions.
I was working in fashion when I discovered gardening. One of my outworkers, George, used to bring in homegrown vegetables for us when delivering the frocks he’d made. Living in a flat in London I groused to him that I had nowhere to grow stuff, but would love to. He suggested I get an allotment………. so I did !!
I loved my allotment in Putney, I caused much amusement with my country living family when I arrived with bags of goodies all grown in London. Working as a production manager was good, but being on the allotment I knew I’d found my passion for gardening.
I grow my flowers as sustainably as I can, without chemicals that harm wildlife, I prefer toads, frogs and hedgehogs to eat the slugs on my plot rather than allow slug pellets to be snaffled up and go into the food chain. I keep honey bees and love the accompanying buzz of pollinating insects as I work and don’t use harmful sprays. My flowers are evocative of an English herbaceous border, often scented, always fresh and exquisite.
Sustainable Cut Flowers, Wedding Flowers & Funeral Flowers
Cut flowers were added to my business when I turned my front garden into a cutting garden for the simple pleasure of having cut flowers in the house. I was listening to BBC radio 4 one day when I heard of Flowers from the Farm, a growing movement (pun intended), of farmers and florists all over the British Isles who grow and arrange cut flowers for market.
Inspired and excited I made up some bunches of my garden flowers, put them in an old donkey cart on the grass verge outside the house with an honesty box and sold out in a couple of hours. The seed was sown, so to speak.
My hand tied flowers are for sale locally. If you’d like to send someone flowers you can order online or phone me – I deliver within a ten mile radius of Winsham, near Chard in Somerset including Lyme Regis, Axminster, Chard, Crewkerne, Ilminster and surrounding area.
I supply flowers by the bucket for ‘do it yourself’ weddings and am always pleased to make up wedding bouquets and buttonholes.
Sympathy flowers for a tribute to a departed loved one are unique, natural and made with great care.

Green Credentials
As I grow and arrange my flowers my goal is to make everything compostable.
To condition the soil on my plots I use either compost I’ve made myself or green waste compost from the local council.
Fertilizers used are organic. Seeds are sown into peat free compost.
Natural predators contribute towards despatching unwanted bugs, I actively encourage Hedgehogs, Slow-worms, and Hoverflies.
When I arrange flowers their stems are threaded into a framework of chickenwire to hold them in a vase of water, never floral foam.
Workshops & Demonstrations
See the workshops I run to share my horticultural, floristry and garden design knowledge, they’re fun and informative. Come along to one or buy a voucher to treat a friend.
I’m often asked to give demonstrations to garden clubs and Womens Institute meetings, I take along a bucket of my flowers and whilst making up a hand tie I chat about how I grow my flowers and explain all about buying and supporting local British flower farmers and florists.
